Augustus Gorman at Siebe & Gorman
The reader-supplied family account says that William’s son Augustus worked for the historic Siebe & Gorman company for a short time. This places him in the family business, but it does not identify his job, when he joined or left, or whether he held a management role.
This employment and relationship have not been independently confirmed. He should not be confused with his father William Augustus Gorman, the partner who joined Henry Siebe in 1868 and continued the business after their partnership ended in 1878. A September 2026 check of the Science Museum Group records, Grace’s Guide and the Burchetts’ published company history found no confirmed dates or role for him. The 1861 census at 5 Denmark Street lists a granddaughter Marien (age 3), and the 1881 Putney household lists only daughters Augusta and Matilda, so no son appears in either.

Henry’s death is dated 1885 in the supplied account and 1887 in several later histories. We retain both dates rather than silently choosing one.
