Dive boat briefings
A thorough boat briefing covers everything from safety gear to site conditions. Paying close attention is vital for a smooth and safe diving operation.

Listen to the crew
If you have questions about the briefing, ask the crew before the boat leaves the dock or enters the water. Safety is a team effort.
Before departure
The crew will explain the boat layout, including emergency exit locations, oxygen kits, and first-aid supplies. Pay attention to their safety demonstrations.
Listen closely to the briefing regarding the expected conditions, dive site rules, and any specific local environmental hazards.
Site arrival
Once at the site, the crew will provide information on currents, depth, and visibility. They will also confirm the signal for return to the boat.
Follow the captain’s guidance on entry and exit procedures. Boats can move, so ensure you know how to safely navigate to the vessel.
Post-dive protocols
Follow the established process for returning to the boat, including handing up equipment and climbing the ladder safely.
Listen for updates from the crew regarding changes in schedule or site conditions. Respect the boat’s rules at all times.
