Mask straps and seals
A mask that fits on land may leak once the hood and regulator are in place.

Safety and training
General field notes, not a dive plan. Stay within your training, follow local site rules and the operator’s briefing.
Field observation
Test the skirt against your face without overtightening the strap. Hair, hood edges and twisted silicone break the seal; excessive tension can make the problem worse.
A practical approach
Check strap condition and buckle movement before travel; carry a compatible spare strap if the design allows user replacement.
Dive-day checklist
Before you go
- Check local conditions and access rules
- Agree limits and the exit with your buddy
- Stop or change the plan if conditions differ
General guidance only. Follow your training, the dive operator’s procedures, and each manufacturer’s current instructions.
